From your browser menu bar select
View
Select
Text Size
Select the size you would like
Internet Explorer 7 users can additionally select
Ctrl + to increase and
Ctrl -
to decrease the text size.
Some of our pages have fixed font sizes. To ignore our sizes completely please do the following:
From your browser menu bar select
Tools > Internet Options > Accessibility
Select
Ignore font sizes specified on web pages
Select
OK
Firefox
From your browser menu bar select
View
Select
Text Size
Select the
size you would like
Alternatively, selecting
Ctrl + increases the text size,
Ctrl - decreases
the text size and Ctrl 0 returns you to the default text size.
Safari
From your browser menu bar select View
In the drop-down menu select either
Make Text Bigger or
Make Text Smaller
To increase the font sizes on every page that you visit:
From your browser menu bar select

In the drop-down menu select
Preferences
Click the
Appearance icon
Next to
Standard Font click
Select
Select the font
size you would like

tick in the
Ignore Colours Specified on Webpages check box

The website is now using the colour scheme set up on your computer. If you are happy with this, select
OK
If you still wish to change the colours, click
Colours
To remove the default Windows colours,
remove the tick from the
Use Windows Colours check box
Change the colours by selecting
Text or
Background or
Visited or
Unvisited
then clicking on your preferred colour
When you have selected the colour scheme you require, click
OK to return to the Internet Options box

OK to return to Internet Explorer

From your browser menu bar select
Tools

Click the
Content tab
Click on
Colours…
To use your Windows colour scheme colours, ensure there is a
tick in
Use System Colours.
Make sure there is
no tick in the
Allow pages to choose their own colours, instead of my selections above checkbox
Click
OK to return to the Options dialogue box
Click
OK to return to Firefox
Safari
At present Safari does not have any options to change text and background colours.

Please note that Windows Narrator is only available for Windows 2000 and XP.
Windows Narrator will not narrate a web page.
Click
Start in the bottom left corner of your screen

Narrator – it will immediately start reading out instructions on how to use this feature.

Select your required settings by placing
ticks in the appropriate boxes
If you wish to adjust the voice settings click

Amend voice settings and click

To activate Mac Speech click on the
Apple menu
Click on the
Control Panels sub-menu
Click
Speech
In the Speech control panel click the
pop-up menu next to Voice, then select your chosen voice
To play a sample of this voice click the speaker button next to the voice name
The
Rate slider can be moved to speed up or slow down the voice
Click the
Options drop-down menu
Select
Talking Alerts
To enable your computer to speak text in dialogue boxes, place a tick in the Speak the alert text check box
Set the
Wait before speaking slider to your chosen delay time before the computer speaks
Close the box to save your settings
